When your sister came

Your sister, Phoebe, came at night at 9.38pm. I wanted grandpa and grandma to bring you here quickly but I was told that I have to stay at the delivery ward for an hour before being transferred to the hospital bed. Since it would be so late, we decided to have you and the rest of the family come the next day instead.

Oh, how I have missed you for another night. Before that, you were already staying at grandpa and grandma's house for a couple of nights because I don't know when I'll go into labour.

When you were in the hospital, you were pretty excited. You wanted to carry Phoebe, which we allowed when you are seated on the bed. You posed for a very nice photo for us. We gave you a camera and said it was from Phoebe. Then you started snapping away, being more excited about your new toy then Phoebe. After that, you went to school.

For the following weeks and days after Phoebe was back home, very unfortunately, you fell sick with fever, hives and cough. There are many nights when you couldn't stay with us. The worst hit was when Phoebe also had to be away doing phototheraphy. Thankfully, you stayed with us that night.

When you finally got better, the real battle begins. Many times at night, you asked me to hold your hand to sleep. That was funny. Then, you slept real close to me that was really uncomfortable. When I fed Phoebe at night, you were initially disturbed by the night light. So I’ve decided to go out to the living room instead. Still, there were nights when you were disturbed when I got out of the bed. Then you would come running behind me and crying; throwing such a tantrum that it would disturb daddy. Every night, we had to talk to you and remind you of what to expect that night. We hope things will get better soon.

During confinement, I cannot wash my hair often. One day, you saw me put on the shower cap and you were quite disturbed by it. You called the shower cap “plastic bag on the head”. Haha.

On days when you are fine, you LOVE to sing songs inside the room when Phoebe is sleeping! That often wakes phoebe up. You would sing songs from school, both in Chinese and English! Actually, it was nice to see you sing. But it’s unfortunate that it often wakes Phoebe up when she’s supposed to sleep.
